AGNES is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device used for skin rejuvenation, acne scar treatment, and wrinkle reduction. It combines microneedling with bipolar RF energy to deliver controlled heat into the skin’s deeper layers, stimulating collagen production. The device is commonly used for acne scars, enlarged pores, and skin tightening.
The insight behind AGNES RF is that the gland producing the excess oil that feeds acne is physical and addressable. Rather than applying energy across the skin and hoping it reaches the right depth, AGNES RF places the energy exactly where it is needed. The needle penetrates to the gland itself. The radiofrequency energy is released only at the tip, heating and disabling the overactive gland while the insulated shaft protects everything above it.
This precision allows the device to treat three distinct concerns — acne, pores, and under-eye fat — using the same principle of targeted radiofrequency, at different depths and with different settings.
What AGNES RF Addresses
- Active acne — AGNES RF targets individual sebaceous glands producing excess oil. The radiofrequency energy disables the gland’s secretory function, reducing oil production at its source.
- Enlarged pores — The thermal energy around each pore contracts the surrounding tissue and stimulates collagen, resulting in visible reduction in pore size.
- Under-eye fat pads — One of few non-surgical options for under-eye bags. RF energy heats deeper layers of skin, breaking down fat cells and tightening connective tissue. The result is a non-surgical option with little to no recovery time.
- Acne scarring — Collagen stimulation from the treatment can improve the appearance of shallow acne scars over multiple sessions.
- Oily skin — By reducing the number of active sebaceous glands, AGNES RF shifts overall oil production in the treated area.
How AGNES RF Works
AGNES RF uses a micro-needle that is insulated along its length except for the very tip. The needle is inserted into the skin at a depth determined by the concern being treated. For acne, that depth is the sebaceous gland. For pores, the needle targets the collagen ring around the pore opening. For under-eye fat, it reaches the fat compartment beneath the muscle.
The device delivers radiofrequency energy only at the exposed tip. The insulated shaft protects everything from the skin surface down to the target depth, so there is no surface burning and no unnecessary thermal damage. The target tissue is heated to a temperature that causes coagulation — the gland stops producing oil, the fat cell is destroyed, or the collagen around the pore contracts and tightens.
For acne, the treated sebaceous gland is permanently disabled. The body does not grow a replacement. This is why the acne protocol produces lasting improvement. For under-eye fat, the destroyed fat cells are not replaced. For pores, the collagen contraction is sustained but benefits from ongoing collagen health.
The device has three established protocols, each with its own needle depth, energy setting, and treatment pattern.
Treatment Experience
During treatment, a numbing cream is applied for comfort. Most clients feel a mild warmth or tingling sensation.
Acne sessions take twenty to thirty minutes. A course of two to four sessions is typical, spaced three to four weeks apart. The skin feels warm and looks red for two to five days afterward. Tiny crusts may form where the needle entered the skin and resolve within a week.
Under-eye sessions are shorter, around fifteen minutes. A single session sometimes achieves the desired result, though two sessions spaced four weeks apart are more common. Swelling around the eyes for three to seven days is expected. The reduction in fat bulge becomes visible as the swelling subsides.
Pore treatment follows a similar pattern to acne sessions. Improvement is cumulative.
